Grace and Mercy are related in the fact that we don't deserve or earn Grace or Mercy. Grace means to receive a blessing you DON'T deserve, and Mercy means avoiding a punishment you DO deserve. So they are actually on different sides of the same doctrinal coin.

How Do You Define “Leadership”?

 There are probably as many ways to define leadership as there are leaders.

There is not one clear definition, but here's one that I strongly believe in, "The task of leadership is not to put greatness into people but to elicit it, for the greatness is there already." -John Buchan, former Governor General of Canada.

How do you define “leadership”?

What other people think of us.

What we think of ourselves is very important. What other people think of us is not important. We tend to be concerned with what other people think of us, but what someone else thinks of us really has no bearing on our life. What we think of ourselves is EVERYTHING.

If we work at being nice people and work towards accomplishing something, others will probably like us. But if we go around concerned about what other people think, we're not likely to accomplish very much.

There are at least 4 types of wealth:

 

1. Financial wealth (money)

2. Social wealth (status)

3. Time wealth (freedom)

4. Physical wealth (health)

Be wary of jobs that lure you in with 1 and 2, but rob you of 3 and 4.

Fitness = Nutrition + Exercise.

 

Both are important, but the first needs more attention from most of us.

Patience.

Nothing is going to happen all of a sudden. There is no instant gratification when it comes to business. And that’s a really tough pill for some people to swallow. Lack of patience keeps people from achieving their greatest aspirations. I’ve known so many people who never got the upside they deserved because they couldn’t be patient.

Speaking from personal experience...

Entrepreneurship.

Entrepreneurship is a disciplined process, and it is more about solving problems than it is about making money. That is a mind shift for most people.

Decisions.

Decisions are constantly before us. To make them wisely, courage is needed- the courage to say no, the courage to say yes. Decisions DO determine destiny.

Conversational Turn-Taking.

Conversational Turn-Taking, a skill upon which we can all likely improve. When we talk, we should take turns.

Faith.

To perform any work requires that we have faith in the ultimate result of that work. No farmer would plant unless he expected to reap; no builder would build, unless he expected one to inhabit; no speculator would invest, unless he expected to increase his means; no journey would be attempted unless there existed hope of reaching the destination.

So, likewise, no commandment of God would be obeyed unless there existed faith that certain blessings would follow obedience.

Relationship Arrogance.

Relationship Arrogance is prioritizing relationships based on a forecasted return on investment. 

While Relationship Arrogance is as infectious as the cold, it can be dangerous because some of the greatest opportunities often come from the least likely of sources.

Introverts constitute a bigger market than you might think—in part because they’re sometimes hard to identify. Some introverts are actually outgoing and even comfortable in crowds, but they get energized by retreating and by focusing deeply on a subject. 

Extroverts, in contrast, derive energy by interacting with friends and strangers alike; they’re typically assertive, go-getting, and comfortable with conflict. 

Ambiverts are an introvert-extrovert combo.

One simple practice.

What one practice, if followed consistently and with discipline, would help you have better health, energy, and inspiration?

Go to bed early and get up early.

If you do, your body and mind will become rested and then in the quiet of those early morning hours, you will receive more flashes of inspiration and insight than at any other time of the day.
